Nobody can be darker than a psychopath in a “Dark Romance”.
"How could you be so careless?"
My father growls. His facial expressions tightens with fury and probably concern.
“Atleast give….."
A phone call cuts his words short. He takes a quick glimpse at the phone screen before heading to the balcony to answer it.I doesn’t even have to guess who it might be. His mistress. Even thinking about that woman leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
This is one of the most unique days of my life. It has been four years since I moved into this flat, and this is the first time my father has visited me and this does not make me pleased at all. Also he comes with a bad temper and, I don't even know the reason behind his temper.
His presence is like a plague for me. He was the reason I moved out of the house that held so many bittersweet memories of my mother. My mother was a coward because he made her such. She committed suicide by hanging in front of me. My memory of the horror is still vivid. I still can't get her wide, lifeless eyes out of my thoughts, and it takes a full bottle of spirits for me to fall asleep.
My gaze strays over to the wall-mounted clock. Four o'clock in the morning. I slide my hand into my hair in frustration. My hangover is kicking in so bad. All I want is a good sleep, but this old fucker out of nowhere barged into my flat and deprived me of my fucking privacy.
“These fucking flies”.
Returning to the living area, he curses.
“Look what you've done. The media has already started to swarm around your building. ”
I frown. "Media, Why?"
“Don't you know why ? A regular employee saw you kill two individuals, and now the fucker is going to testify against you in court.”
His eyes shine with anger and somehow my demons are satisfied seeing him losing his shit.
“You would end up in prison.” He adds.
“So, that's why you are here at my place, disturbing my sleep?” I tilt my head.
I let out a sigh.
“My men will take care of it. There is no need for you to worry.”
His brows dart together and I see his wrinkles highlighting more because of frowning at me.
“The media has disseminated the news. The value of my company's shares is declining. The CEO is you. How could you be so irresponsible?”
If I do not know him any better I would think he is worried about me but he is a money sucker all he cares about is his business and his mistresses.
I get off the couch and move in the direction of the balcony. I'm not particularly interested in discussing my issues with this man.A refreshing gust of wind greets me as I open the glass door to the balcony. I can see the large gathering of media members from my third-floor flat.
They begin taking pictures of me as soon as they see me, which makes sense to me given that I'm currently a gossip. I am now the youngest billionaire and eligible bachelor according to the Forbes list.
However, only I am aware that this eligible bachelor is only a notorious sociopath on the dark side of the universe.
I simply wave at them and give them a genuine false smile that everyone loves.A ruse to deceive the world into believing that I am a loving person. Although, love is a foreign subject to me.
"Brother, How did this happen?"
My brother's familiar voice causes me to turn around and confront him. My lips twist into a sneer.
"You got the news too?”
“Is this even a question? Of course, I got the news. You wouldn't go to prison. I've brought Nikhil with me. You know he excels in his role as a lawyer.”
His words are full of real care and an unspoken commitment. My brother Aniket, has matured into a fine man. Fair skin, well-groomed black curly hair, and a healthy body.
We are like Earth and Sky. I am opaque and dark as a full moon night, whereas he is translucent as clear water.
“I am fine with the prison, the thought is exciting.”
I let out a chuckle.
“You should work clean, man. This case is almost impossible, the police have a witness against you.”
Nikhil says from behind us. He is one of my few reliable friends and is among the best solicitors in the nation, I pay him millions to save myself and company from accusations.
“I pay you in millions to keep me safe. Do your job or else I will kick you out.”
“Much better. At least I don't have to deal with your crazy temper.” He rolls his eyes. He scowls at me.
This sucker.
“I cannot believe this. You still have time to crack jokes. The police are on their way. I want you to design a backup plan so that we can save the company from potential damages.”
Father's irritated voice trails behind.
“Dad, this is not the time to think about company. Brother is my first priority.” Aniket argues.
I lift my hand to signal Aniket to stop arguing with the old man. It is more like a warning. If they want to fight, they can simply fuck the hell off my flat. I'm not into family dramas. Furthermore, I cherish my peace.
My patience is wearing thin when the old man decides to test it a little more.
He again speaks in his rough unruly tone.
“The reason he is going to prison is because he is incompetent. I can't let my hard work go in vain for him.”
I've reached my limit now, and I gaze at him. Just a glance. A look that is sure to make folks pee their pants.
"Relax, old man. Don't lose your shit”.
My voice, dangerously low. I have been patient enough with him since this morning. He wants me to talk, but he should know that the only time I talk real is when I kill someone. When I make their lives a living hell. When my finely sharp knife tears through their skin. I find peace in their agony.
“Y…You b…”
His voice crackles obviously because of the mirage of devil he saw in my pupils.
“Me what?” I growl.
This time, I take a few steps forward and stare deeply into his eyes. My method of telling him that he may be an evil man, but I am not evil. I am the devil who gives mankind the ability to create the word evil.
“Brother….. Dad, please.”
Aniket comes in between us to ease the tension enveloping us.
“As I said, it was my negligence and I will take care of it.”
I say while passing by my petrified father.I stop and I look at the old man once again and with a smile I state.
“I am the CEO of the Crown Empire too. You should not worry yourself with the company’s affairs too much, DAD.”
My final remarks are salt on his wounds, and they aren't entirely false. It is I who do all of the dirty work for the corporation. I am the one who did all of the illegal dealings behind the curtains to build this business. For the Crown Empire, I have shed blood and bled too.
The company he shamelessly claims as his own is built on the blood of the victims I slaughtered.
